PAULINA, Iowa (KTIV) -- The Iowa Department of Natural resources says an invasive water plant is confirmed in a Siouxland lake.
The DNR says its working to prevent the spread of Eurasian watermilfoil at Mill Creek Lake which a mile east of Paulina in O'Brien County.
The DNR says the species is easily spread to other lakes and right now, officials are hoping to keep it away from the Iowa Great Lakes.
Authorities plan to treat the Eurasian Watermilfoil by using an aquatic herbicide next spring... which should kill off the plants after about two months.
If you plant on using Mill Creek Lake, DNR officials are telling folks to thoroughlly clean off anything that would have had contact with the lake water.
