SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Police have arrested two teens in connection with a gang-related assault at a Sioux City park.
Seventeen-year-old Thadeous McKeever and 16-year-old Frankie Perez of Sioux City both face a felony charge of willful injury. McKeever also faces charges of criminal gang participation and going armed with intent.
Police say the two were involved with the assault of a 15-year-old Wednesday night at the newly remodeled Dale Street park. The teen was hit with a crowbar and stabbed in the leg with a knife.
At a community meeting last night, city leaders and community members raised concerns about violence taking place where kids play.
"We want to just reassure everyone, that the police are very diligent in apprehending the people involved in these situations and there'll be no tolerance for gang activity," said Mayor Pro-Tem Jim Rixner.
The park is under video surveillance. Police say more arrests are possible.
