SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Sioux City's Human Rights Commission is acknowledging three members of the community for their service to others.
Barb Wingert, Saint Paul's Indian Mission, and Susan Barta will receive the 2009 War Eagle Award.
The Commission says Wingert, a member of Women Aware, has helped countless clients overcome obstacles.
For 40 years the Saint Paul's Indian Mission has provided a voice for the Native American community.
And Susan Barta, a founding member of Woodbury County Drug Court, is being recognized for her work serving those with substance abuse problems.
"It really isn't just for a few months work or a year's work, most of these people, this is their life's work," said Karen Mackey of the Human Rights Commission.
The three recipients will be honored on Universal Human Rights Day December 10. The event is free and open to the public from 11:30 until 1:30.
