People are lined up at the Sioux City Post Office to mail their holiday packages

Sioux City, IOWA (KTIV) - Locally, people were also lining up at the Sioux City Main Post Office to mail their letters and packages as well.

Postal officials say they have added extra staff to help expedite mailing and the lines as fast as possible.

New this year is their Priority Mail boxes that will ship anywhere in the U.S. for a flat fee.

And, if you don't want to wait in the traditional line this year, officials say there are a few other options.

"We also have the option for people not wanting to wait in line is we have an Automatic Postal Center, where they can do it on there own. Just like an a-t-m machine, they can mail their own packages. They could also, if they don't want to wait in line, they could do everything on-line at home at usps.com and print their own labels, get everything ready to go and either just drop off or we would pick up for them also," said Lori Slater-Trautwein, Sioux City Post Master.

Slater-Trautwein said packages should arrive in time for Christmas as long as they are mailed by Friday.
