SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Some Sioux City students have been learning about Kwanzaa.

Roosevelt Elementary second graders have been studying different holidays and Tuesday, Flora Lee gave them a lesson in Kwanzaa.

She told the students Kwanzaa means "First Fruits" and she also told them about the meaning of the seven days of Kwanzaa and the different colors associated with the days.

She said Kwanzaa is an African American holiday but it can be celebrated by anyone.

"That it is a holiday that doesn't take the place of any other holiday but it stresses community and working together," said Flora Lee, Kwanzaa Presenter.
