Weather, holiday will affect Sioux City recycling

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Winter weather won't just impact your travel plans, it'll force some changes for folks staying at home.

Folks in Sioux City will have to wait for their recycling to be picked up. Recycling is canceled Thursday, and there's no recycling on Friday, because of the holiday.

City officials say they're also canceling collection on Saturday, December 26th. Recycling pick-up resumes Monday.

"We're asking that maybe you don't put your garbage out if you don't have to during that time period, and give them an opportunity to get around to the streets aren't plowed and open," said Environmental Services manager Ellen Myers.

But, Myers reminds you to recycle during holidays.

Ellen Myers, Environmental Services Manager, said, "Instead of putting all of your holiday trash in the garbage... this would be an excellent opportunity for you to put your cardboard and your wrapping paper and what ever is acceptable in your recycling bin," Myers said.

Meyer says most wrapping papers are recyclable.
