OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Westbound Interstate 80 from Omaha to Lincoln and both directions of I-80 between Lincoln and Grand Island have been closed because of dangerous travel conditions.
Nebraska Department of Roads spokeswoman Mary Jo Oie (OY) said Friday afternoon that several accidents have been reported on the snow- and ice-slickened interstate. Roads officials and the State Patrol are calling for people to stay home.
Other highways in the central and eastern part of the state also are closed because of snow and winds up to 50 mph.
Accumulations of 7 to 10 inches have been reported, and an additional 2 to 5 inches are expected before the storm moves out of the area Saturday.
