COPY-Missionaries Back in Sheldon, Iowa, Deep Thoughts Still on Haiti
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Safe on United States soil, the missionary evacuees concerns drift back to Haiti.
Missionary evacuee Mark Korselman said, "The picture that I can't get out of my mind is the father that had to bring his own caskets and had to nail the lids closed on his kids."
As a father of three, Mark Koerselman says it would be his worst nightmare to have to bury his own child.
"There were a lot of mothers that brought kids in, we had three pass away as we were helping them, they kissed them and then they left, they said we can't take them because we can't afford to bury them," said Koerselman.
Exhausted but thankful, this group says they have a new appreciation for the United States.
"We got it made that we actually had something to come home to, we have something better to go to, but they just have to stay there and deal with it," said Koerselman.
To deal with the experience in Haiti, the First Reformed Church will have counseling available for the mission group.
