SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Students at Sioux City's East Middle school are pitching in to help raise money for those in Haiti.
A day long bake sale took place where students could buy everything from homemade fudge to brownies and rice krispie treats.
All the proceeds will go to Haiti through the American Red Cross.
Students with Team Green put on the event, and say they're glad to be able to help out.
"It feels really good I'm doing my part for the disaster," said student Alexis Stuhr.
"Makes me feel kind of good that we're helping people to start over," said student Noah Bucy.
Other students say they wanted to hold the bake sale because it saddens them when they see pictures of Haiti.
They say they can't imagine losing their home, and in some cases even family.
So far the bake sale has raised over a thousand dollars.
Organizers say they have donors that will match and even double the amount the bake sale makes.
