Morningside College helps Haiti

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV)

A group of students at Morningside College are lending a helping hand for Haiti.

Students spent part of the day making health kits and while some students say they usually don't even fold their own towels, they were willing to work for a good cause.

Over the last few weeks, student volunteers raised fourteen-hundred dollars from faculty, staff, and fellow students.

That money was able to purchase enough items like toothbrushes, towels, and soap to make one-hundred-eighty health kits.

"A bath and brushing their teeth is least of their priorities, but this is an opportunity for them to clean up and feel better about themselves and we can really help them during this difficult time," said Lauren Deichmann, a student volunteer at Morningside College.

The group plans on shipping the health kits to Haiti tomorrow.
