A sustainable future for Nebraska discussed at workshop

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV)

Nebraska's future was on the minds of many today in Dakota City.

Some Nebraska leaders were invited to attend a workshop about energy efficiency, leadership skills, and sustainable goals for Nebraska.

The Nebraska Environmental Trust funded the workshop.

The purpose of the meeting was to create a network of leaders who share ideas, develop a common language, and discuss long term goals like utilizing Nebraska's assets.

"No ones going to come save us, we have to find ways to save ourselves," said Jim Crandall, from Nebraska Cooperative Development.

"It's a way of thinking about the world and a way of thinking about decision making, planning, community participation, that minimizes mistakes," said Jay Leighter, the workshop's consultant.

The Nebraska Environmental Trust group began a year and a half ago.
