Mayor distributing surveys to prepare for post-Morrell
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- The City of Sioux City is trying to reach out to people and businesses that will be affected by John Morrell's April closure.
Mayor Mike Hobart has distributed about 600 e-mails linked to an online survey for folks to fill out. He says, so far they've gotten a good response.
Hobart says the goal of the project is figure out the best way to work with companies that do business with Morrell and how to support those who will lose their jobs. The mayor says it will also position Sioux City for the future.
"It will help us seek other industries coming into Sioux City and it'll give us a platform of information to deal with those companies," Hobart said.
The mayor expects more detailed surveys to follow.
