Culver touts state funds for Storm Lake campground
STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) -- A Storm Lake, Iowa campground gets a boost from Governor Chet Culver's I-JOBS initiative.
The governor presented the city with $700,000 to help renovate the Sunrise Campground. The total cost of the project is nearly $2 million, and will improve flood mitigation and water quality at the campground.
Gov. Culver says, right now flash flooding is a problem and is a hindrance to possible tourists.
"I'm also very excited about what this means to local residents and visitors in terms of an attractive recreational opportunity. Because we're going to enhance the campground and build new pads and a bath house," Culver said.
Culver says so far, I-JOBS has used about $500 million to fund 1,500 projects in Iowa. Overall, it's an $800 million program to improve the state's infrastructure and create jobs.
