Quick-thinking neighbor saves house from fire

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - An alert neighbor helped save a house from major damage following a fire, Monday afternoon.

It happened in Sioux City's Morningisde neighborhood, at 5701 Myers Avenue, shortly after four o'clock.

A neighbor smelled then saw smoke and called the fire department immediately.

Fire investigators say the blaze was confined to one room in the house.

The room had heavy fire and smoke damage, but the rest of the house was mostly unharmed.

"It was a typical response. Two truck companies and three engines. Something like that. 16 or 17 personnel. No one was injured." said Joe Rodriguez - Sioux City Fire Dept.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
