Sioux City man sentenced for rapes

ELK POINT, SD (KTIV) -- A Sioux City man, charged with rape, will spend 14 years behind bars.

A judge sentenced Christopher Jones Monday morning. He's convicted of raping a woman twice in October 2008, at a party in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota.

Jones will serve consecutive 7-year sentences for the two "third degree" rape charges.

During the sentencing, the judge said there was a lack of remorse from the defendant.

"When that's your belief in your heart that it's consensual, it's hard to show remorse when a jury disagrees with that," said Jones' attorney, Phil Peterson.

The judge said Jones has several previous felony convictions, which includes a stabbing.
