A Norfolk business gets help from the community

Norfolk, Neb. (KTIV) - The river may be going down but one business in Norfolk Nebraska is still sandbagging.

Affiliated Foods says they need to pump water out of their loading docks before they can get back to business.

But before they can do that they need to make sure the pumped water won't come back.

Volunteers from the city's chamber of commerce and local businesses are helping Affiliated Foods by sandbagging the area around the loading docks.

"It's gonna take a few days to work through because we've been taking some inventory out of here to ship it out of our other distribution centers," says Doug Burkink, Engineering Manager for Affiliated Foods.

Managers say after the water is out, they will turn the power back on and they can start shipping orders back out.

Affiliated Foods managers say so far the temperatures for the food's cold storage has been maintained.

They don't believe they have a lot of damaged food but the USDA is at the center to make sure the food is still okay.
