Tetanus clinic for flood victims

NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV) - Folks in Norfolk, Nebraska took advantage of a free tetanus shot today.

The Elkhorn Logan Valley Public  Health Department hosted a tetanus shot clinic at the Norfolk city auditorium.

Officials encouraged those that have been in the water to get the shot because it could be toxic.

"Since flood waters carry all kinds of bacteria and you know junk, we just want to make sure we can protect people and tetanus does enter your body through wounds, and so it's really important to come down and get a tetanus booster," said Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department Nursing and Wellness Manager Gina Uhing.

About 125 residents showed up for the free shot.
