Two arrested for gun thefts in Vail, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- The men police believe are responsible for stealing more than 40 guns from a Vail, Iowa gun shop have been caught.

Authorities say, Felix Mendez, 22, and Jose Osoria-Mendez, 19, both of Worthington, Minnesota, have been arrested and charged with theft of firearms.  If convicted, the men face up to 10 years in prison.

The guns were found on July 20 in a spillway near Worthington.  So far, six guns have been recovered.

Crawford County, Iowa officials say the two broke into Pete's Gun Shop in Vail back in May.  Officials say a  combination of pistols and rifles were taken.  Authorities believe they may also be connected to a Minnesota bank robbery.

The Crawford County sheriff says he expects more arrests to be made.
