SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- The Sioux City Fire Department says it wants to be better connected with the community.
To do that, they're asking to put up LED signs in front of every one of its fire stations. The fire department estimates it would cost $175,000.
The signs will display messages like Amber Alerts, weather updates, and current events at the stations or around town.
Sioux City Fire Chief Tom Everett said, "These signs we hope to really utilize along with our new Facebook pages and different things that we're doing to connect with the neighborhoods and make those firehouses really a part of that neighborhood."
Everett says the fire stations' locations are perfect for the signs because they're in high-traffic areas.
He'll be asking the city council to move forward with project at tomorrow's meeting.
