South Sioux bars will soon have later closing time

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) -- Following a change in Nebraska law last year, South Sioux City is moving ahead with a later closing time for bars.

Right now, liquor sales must stop at 1 a.m. But, Monday night, the city council approved moving that back to 2 a.m.

One bar owner says that extra hour will make his business more competitive with those in Iowa, which already close at 2.

Fattyz owner Chad Saunders says, "Right now, 1:00, 12:30, 1:00, comes around, our customers head over the bridge. So it'll keep some of that revenue in South Sioux."

The change should take place within the next couple of weeks.
