Woodbury Co. employees could get "insurance holidays"
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Woodbury County is doing its part keeping its employees healthy. That's thanks to wellness programs that have been put in place over the last year.
Officials say county employees have been visiting the doctor less frequently, and now the county's health plan reserves have hit $1.7 million. That's a large jump compared to last year, when the county was asking a increase in taxes.
County officials say, because the health plan reserves are getting so high, they are proposing to have some health "insurance holidays." That would give employees a break from their health insurance premiums for a period. Officials say, they'll look into the holiday once reserves hit $2.5 million.
