Two months left and Meister hopes for Governor win

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Nebraska Governor hopeful Mike Meister, still trying to get his name out with only two months left in the campaign and still no running mate.

"When a Republican has screwed up the finances of the state as badly as Dave Heineman has screwed up the finances of the state, Nebraskans vote for the Democrat to replace the Republican," says Candidate Mike Meister.

Nick named "Governor Goober," Meister says he's running for the rights of rural Nebraska and blames Heineman for the state's finance problems.

Meister says with him voters have a chance to correct a Republican controlled budget.

"One of the local papers back where I am at did a little straw poll thing one of those unscientific call in and see, we actually beat him 155 to 124 in a county that is two to one republican," says Meister.

Meister got the "Goober" moniker after a gaff from Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning.

Meister says it was all in good fun.
