Siouxland Freedom Park looking for designs

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) -- The Siouxland Freedom Park is looking for your help in shaping the look of its interpretive center.

The park, which will be built in South Sioux City, Nebraska, is holding a design competition that anyone is invited to join.

Once it's done, the park will feature a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and laser light ampitheater.

For the interpretive center, organizers are looking for designs that don't just look good, but are functional, energy-efficient, and memorable. First place prize is $1,000 and second place is $500.

"Eager to see what will come in as are the other members of the steering committee. It's like a kid on Christmas. We can't wait to unwrap the package and see what people think, what they envision as the iconic centerpiece," said Siouxland Freedom Park chairman Mike Newhouse.

If you'd like to submit a design, you can do so at the Siouxland Freedom Park website. Deadline for submissions is December 1.
