Salix, IA home damaged in fire

SALIX, Iowa (KTIV) -- Fire crews from three towns quickly doused flames at a home in Salix, Iowa Sunday afternoon.

Flames and heavy smoke could be seen pouring out of a second story window at 506 Talbot Street, around 2:00.

Firefighters from Salix, Sergeant Bluff, and Sloan took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control.

Everyone inside made it out unharmed and crews were able to keep the fire contained mostly to one room.

Salix Fire Chief Justin Iverson says, "Main part of the damage is up in the bedroom. Downstairs is okay, except for a little water damage."

Right now, investigators are working to find the fire's cause.

The Red Cross is working with the family, to get them a place to stay.
