ALTON, Iowa (KTIV) -- Despite a rough housing market, the town of Alton, Iowa is adding new lots to one of their developments.
Tuesday, the city is putting in water and electricity to 23 new lots, hoping to have them ready for sale this October.
The project is part of an addition to Alton's Fairview Meadows development.
The new lots will sell for about thirty-four-thousand a piece and will each have from 16 to 21-thousand square feet of land.
City officials say they're building now to prepare for the future.
"Are thought was that we needed to keep moving forward and if times would turn around we would be prepared for those better economic times," says Dale Ortman, Alton City Administrator.
Ortman says they have plans to add an additional 21 lots to the development, but that depends on the sales of the first 23.
