SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- The Sioux City School District has gotten the green light to start looking for additional teachers.
A grant from the US Department of Education will give the district just under $2.9 million, which must be spent within two years.
Superintendent Dr. Paul Gausman says the district will likely use the funding to hire between 20 and 25 new teachers, and classroom staff.
The district's already advertising the jobs, and will make a recommendation to the school board later this month, to fill the positions.
Gausman says the teachers are needed because of overcrowding in the classrooms.
