Dem. opponent takes jabs at Grassley

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Democratic US Senate candidate Roxanne Conlin was in Sioux City today, and used the opportunity to take a few shots at opponent Senator Chuck Grassley.

Conlin says Grassley is a "born again debit and deficit reducer."

She says he's only trying to fix a debit problem he helped create.

Conlin announced if she were elected she would repeal big oil subsidies, allow the Bush tax cuts for the top 2 percent of "rich" Americans to expire, and crack down congressional ear marks and no-bid contracts.

"I have proposed solutions while senator Grassley has become part of the problem," says Conlin.

Conlin's opponent Grassley, is a five term Senate incumbent. Grassley has served the state for over 30 years and says Conlin's on a "hypocrisy tour" across the state.

His campaign claims Conlin personally pocketed more than $1.2 million in stimulus dollars.

Conlin says despite Grassley's jabs, she's confident on a win in November.

"No ties in politics, there are two possible out comes. We're fighting hard, we have a great plan, we have the best field organization anybody has ever seen and we expect to win," says Conlin.

Conlin says Sioux City her home town. She served for a time as a US attorney for Iowa's Southern District.
