I was born and raised in Streamwood, a NW suburb of Chicago. Besides being away from school, I basically was born and raised there. You can take the kid out of Chicago, but you can't take the Chicago out of the kid!
The road to me being a journalist is an interesting one to say the least. I started off wanting to be a food scientist, then a history teacher, now I am a journalist! I spent many years in school to find what I love to do. You can call me "Van Wilder."
While this is my first job in television, it is not my first time being in a newsroom. In 2010 I was a summer intern at WMAQ NBC5 Chicago. I was the Saturday morning show producer. I enjoyed my time there. During my three months, I got to meet various celebrities, be on a movie set, eat foods from the best chefs in Chicago, and got to kiss the Stanley Cup.
In my free time I love to work-out, exploring new things, and cooking. I am a closet nerd of Star Wars and the railroad.
