SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Its Sioux City's history displayed like you've never seen it before.

The Sioux City Public Museum is showcasing the artistic abilities of Sioux City 4th graders.

"We are hosting the 20th annual Sioux City Projects Exhibition," said Christen Palmer Education Coordinator at the Sioux City Public Museum

Where students present what they've learned about the past with a creative twist.

From the sweet start of a famous Sioux City icon,

"Because I thought it was a fun thing to make and it was easy and Palmers Candy is my favorite thing to go to," said Mackenzie Risner a 4th grader.

To the sweet treats they turn into building materials. If it weren't for the time the students spent on their projects; they may have been tempted to eat them!

"I worked on this project for 3 weeks now," said Ross Clarey a 4th grader

"We had some creative and unique projects this year so we're very proud of our 4th graders," said Palmer

This year's student choice award: Mackenzie homage to the Palmer Candy Company.

"I was excited and surprised," said Risner

She not only won top prize, but also learned a little more about her hometown.

"Just really proud of the knowledge that the students have of Sioux City's History," said Palmer

A project's that sure to help these students build a bridge to our past.
