DOW CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

The discovery of two bags of human bones has prompted an investigation by Crawford County and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

The Crawford County Sheriff's Office says the bags of remains were found inside a warehouse set for demolition late Monday evening. Several people were inside when the discovery was made according to sheriff's deputies.

The Crawford County Medical Examiner determined the bones were human.

That warehouse is located at 113 North Franklin Street in Dow City.

The former owner of the building stored antiques and other collected items. The new owners bought the contents to sell.

Sheriff James Steinkuehler says he's certain no crime occurred in the building.

The remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in hopes of identification.
