Iowa sets up 24-hour hotline for flood questions

Iowa has set up a hotline for residents with flood related concerns and questions.

The hotline is available 24 hours a day and is free and confidential.

Call 1-800-447-1985 to reach an operator that can help answer flood related questions. You can also call 211 from an Iowa phone line for information about food banks, clothing, shelters, volunteer opportunities and donations.

According to Gov. Terry Branstad's office, donations of items like clothing, food, and household goods are not needed at this time. Branstad says cash donations are best because it allows the receiving agency to direct the donation to the most urgent needs.

Branstad's office has put together an online list of organizations that are accepting donations for flood relief. Visit
