A bridge damaged by last year's floodwaters may be restored

Posted:

Floods waters last year caused a historic bridge to collapse in Neilgh Nebraska.

Tuesday, county supervisors decided to look at options to potentially save the bridge, rather than to remove it.

Antelope County Board of Supervisors heard from Bob Cushing of the State Historical Society who said if all replacement options for the fallen bridge are not explored there would be adverse affects leading to mitigation by FEMA.

Cushing said the county has two options to avoid mitigation, including restoring the bridge as a pedestrian crossing or restoring the bridge for vehicle use.
