Moville, IA homes badly damaged by storm

Several Siouxland communities were socked with storms Monday night.

One of the hardest hit was Moville, Iowa.

A tornado hasn't been confirmed there, but some people we talked to had major damage to their homes.

Officials say two people suffered minor injuries in Moville Monday night, but don't have further details at this time.

Local levees hold, but flood waters still find Riverside neighborhood

Strong winds and heavy rain gave some levees along the Missouri River a test.

Flooding also blocked several streets in Sioux City's Riverside neighborhood.

Several yards were also filled with water.

City crews pumped out the streets while the fire department and rapid response team pumped sewage out of homes on River Drive.

City officials say five to ten homes were affected, more because of the storm itself, rather than the flooding on the Big Sioux River.

Pearl Street store fronts to get makeover money

A new facade program will help improve the look of Sioux City's Pearl Street District.

Developers can apply for a $60,000 grant from the city, with a 25% match from the property owner.

Only those who haven't received assistance from the city are eligible.

Funds should become available at the end of July.
