Church offers dinner for flood victims

Folks dealing with flooding already have enough going on, and a Sioux City church wants to help them out.

Morningside Lutheran Church hosted its first "flood feed" Wednesday night, providing a free meal for those displaced by the disaster.

The church plans to make it a weekly tradition for as long as people are out of their homes.

Just a few people showed up, but the church is encouraging folks to join them, to chow down and chat.

"Being able to connect with other people who have similar challenges and are facing these kinds of things and get out of the house, where maybe they're staying with relatives," said pastor Dave Denzer.

The dinners are on Wednesday nights, from 6-7 p.m. The church is located at 700 South Martha Street.
