WASHINGTON, D.C. (KTIV) -
Six Iowa counties being affected by the Missouri River flooding will be able to receive federal disaster declaration funding.
Late Monday afternoon News Four learned President Obama approved the declaration for Woodbury, Monona, Harrison, Pottawattamie, Mills and Fremont county.
This will allow the federal government to pick up roughly 80 percent of the costs of damage to State and eligible local governments and certain nonprofit organizations on a cost sharing basis.
FEMA said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the State and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
