SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Key lawmakers say they are crafting a temporary spending measure to keep Iowa running another month.
That would give Governor Terry Branstad up to a month to approve the budget they hope to send him in the next couple of days.
Republicans and Democrats have been at odds for months.
Their session was supposed to end April 29th, it's now the third longest in state history.
Party Chairman Matt Strawn doesn't think the stalemate will hurt Republicans next November.
"I think the fact that Republicans are standing their ground on their campaign promise, that's how we not only succeed politically, but that's how we make Iowa successful," said Strawn.
