The Siouxland District Health Department receives a boost to fight obesity and disease in Siouxland
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The Siouxland District Health Department is receiving some help to prevent disease and obesity in Siouxland.
The health department is one of nine sites selected by the Iowa Public Health Association to host an Iowa AmeriCorps Health Corps member.
It is a one-year program that a college graduate will serve starting September 1st.
They will be doing outreach in the community, creating relationships with the youth and working to promote "Live Healthy Siouxland".
"This has been a wellness initiative that in the past has really focused on work site wellness programs but we are looking at growing and enhancing that to include more programs for children and youth. What we are looking at is improving the health and well-being of residents in the Siouxland area," said Kevin , Director of Siouxland District Health.
