Music Conservatory to open in Sioux City

A new project that's music to the ears of local musicians.  The Sioux City Music Conservatory will open in the fall.

As a non-profit, the goal is to create a space for people of all ages to share a love of music.

From music lessons, to jam sessions, even song writing classes, project leaders hope the Music Conservatory will do for music what the Sioux City Art Center has done for art.

They plan to work with local schools to increase music participation outside class.

"Music conservatory is a really great platform to just have a good time and give our youth something to do in our community that's productive," said Gia Emory.

They'll also teach adults and hold Friday night jazz.

The location, 1309 Pierce Street, is going through a neighborhood makeover.  The conservatory is expected to open in October.
