Officials apprehend woman in connection with 10-year-old murder case
Tuesday, officials apprehended a 45-year-old woman in connection with the 2001 death of 20-year-old man in Sac County, IA.
Authorities allege Tracey Ann Richter-Roberts murdered Dustin Wehde on the evening of December 13, 2001 at her home in Early, IA. At 7:07 p.m. that night, the Sac County Sheriff's Communication Center received a 911 call requesting assistance at the residence of Michael and Tracey Roberts at 105 W. South Avenue in Early. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials met Roberts and her kids inside the home. Wehde was found dead, having been shot multiple times in the master bedroom. Roberts told officials that Wehde and another unknown person had attacked her but she was able to wrestle away the handgun, shoot and hit Wehde. According to officials she then claimed the second individual fled before authorities arrived. Officials say that individual was never been located or identified.
During the course of the ten year investigation, officials say they recovered evidence and information indicating the death of Wehde was planned and executed by Roberts. Authorities will make a statement and answer questions from the media at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Sac County Law Enforcement Center. We'll bring you a full wrap up from that press conference coming up on News Four Live at Five and News Four at Six.
