Nebraska AirFest puts on Military Gala in Norfolk Friday
An upcoming Siouxland event will pay tribute to our nation's military and raise money for an event planned for 2012.
Organizers with Nebraska AirFest are putting on a fundraising Military Gala Friday in Norfolk, Nebraska.
The semi-formal event will have a military theme and a keynote military speaker; Harlon Hainm who is one of the first people ever to pilot an SR-71 high altitude plane. In addition, veteran Midwestern entertainer Lynn Dvorak will be performing.
Organizers say they've reached out to those currently in the military as well as veterans to attend. The idea is to salute the US Armed Forces, both past and present.
So where does the money raised at the gala go?
Well, all the proceeds will go to funding the 2012 Nebraska AirFest and State Fly-In at the Norfolk Regional Airport.
Organizers say the event, which is expected to draw in pilots from all over the country, will cost $100,000 to put on.
A similar fund-raising event has already been planned for next June, right before the AirFest.
