Northwest Bank robbery suspect nabbed after heist in Arkansas
Officials in Storm Lake Iowa say the man who robbed a bank in their community in July was apprehended in Arkansas late last month.
38-year-old Levi Jeffrey of Fortsmith, Arkansas will face charges of 2nd Degree Robbery, 2nd Degree Theft and Escape From Custody in connection with the July 27th robbery of Northwest Bank. Jeffrey is accused of entering the bank, handing a bag and note to the teller demanding cash and then fleeing the scene in a white Ford F-150.
However, It wasn't until Aug. 22nd when Storm Lake Police say they were tipped off by the FBI that a similar vehicle and method of robbery were used in Arkansas heist. According to officials several weeks of investigation into the two incidents lead them to believe Jeffrey was behind the robbery in Storm Lake.
Jeffrey remains held in a jail in Arkansas awaiting disposition on the Arkansas robbery and extradition back to Iowa.
