Where are we now? Crowd comes to their feet at Orpheum re-opening

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Following the September 11th attacks, America was in a state of shock.

            The destruction, which happened within a few hours, paralyzed the country for a few days.

            And, it threatened an event more than 10-years in the making... the grand re-opening of the Historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Sioux City.

Dave Bernstein, Orpheum Theatre Campaign Co-Chair says, "There was that desire to say, 'listen this is a strong community event, and something that's important'. And, as long as its done in the right tone, which in hindsight I think it was, that we should continue on."

The tone was somber. "Lincoln's Portrait" was set to be performed. It's an orchestral piece punctuated by excerpts of Abraham Lincoln's great documents...
