SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Some good news in regards to the flooding; the Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center in Sioux City will reopen Friday. The museum and Welcome Center are located along the banks of the Missouri River and have been closed for much of the summer.

Officials say the dry-docked vessel didn't sustain any damage. They say after the waters started to recede, the Welcome Center staff completed painting and maintenance.

"We actually took the opportunity to get in there and do a little fix-up, for about 20-years some of the things that haven't been done. So there was a little bit of a silver lining to it. We are very pleased to be opening up and we'll be open on a daily basis 10 to 4," said Steve Hansen Sioux City Public Museum Director.

With the reopening of the Sergeant Floyd, the Sioux City Public Museum will resume its normal opening hours. Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,  and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
