It appears that dry weather has finally caught up with farmers in Siouxland as high winds continue to whip across the area. The attached aerial photos were taken in Cedar County, Neb. Wednesday. Officials believe the fire was started by a some farm equipment around 2:30 p.m. At its peak authorities say the fire grew to over a mile in length and three-quarters of a mile wide. In all 11 fire departments and over 30 units responded and battled the flames for over six hours. Two Yankton firefighters received some minor injuries but were treated and released on scene. Officials estimate over 1,200 acres were damaged.
