SC company announces plans to lay off more than 60 employees
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
A Sioux City company announced they'll lay off more than 60 people by the end of this month. Wilson Trailer Company met with its employees late last month to announce the workforce reductions both in Sioux City and Moberly, Missouri.
Director of Human Resources, John Kreber, says about 68 people in Sioux City will be out of a job Oct. 31st. In a statement from the company, Kreber says "nationwide weather related stress on crops and continued weak economic conditions" led to the layoffs.
Sioux City's plant produces grain trailers and Kreber says when crop yields are low, the demand for trailers is low, causing a decrease in business.
In 2009, Wilson also laid off some employees due to the economy.
