El Salvador man sentenced for failure to register as sex offender
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
A convicted sex offender who illegally re-entered the US from El Salvador has been sentenced to federal prison time.
30-year-old Jose Nieto-Campos was convicted in Crawford County, Iowa in 2001 of multiple crimes including indecent contact with a child. He was deported from the U.S. in 2004, but returned to the U.S. in May of 2011. Denison Police apprehended Nieto-Campos for failing to register as a sex offender.
Nieto-Campos was sentenced in Sioux City to 50 months in prison followed by 2 years of supervised release.
