Nebraska's Senator Ben Nelson issued this statement after Speaker of the Nebraska Legislature Mike Flood announced that TransCanada will voluntarily move its proposed pipeline away from Nebraska's Sand Hills and the Ogallala Aquifer, and introduced legislation calling for a state-produced environmental review of the new route.
"This is a win for Nebraskans," said Senator Nelson. "The pipeline will be moved out of environmentally sensitive areas of Nebraska with TransCanada proposing a new route. The pipeline will be built, bringing jobs to Nebraska.
"I want to commend the Nebraska Legislature for stepping up to address the issue, and it's good news there will be a regulatory mechanism put in place so that Nebraskans don't have to go through this again."
