The Orange City Area Health System is building a new $19 million dollar Senior Care Facility in Orange City, Iowa.
Hospital officials say dirt work and utilities are being put in this fall with construction starting in the spring of 2012 on the northeast side of Orange City.
Officials say this new facility will take the place of the current Long Term Care space and Heritage House.
The new building will have 83 beds, all private rooms and baths, with a memory unit and "village center" that features a gathering space, hair salon, open cafe and park-like atmosphere.
"Much improved facility as far as living spaces. We take great care of our residents but the building is an important part because it's your home and we want it to be a comfortable home," said Dan McCarty, Orange City Area Health System Chief Operating Officer.
Officials hope to open the new building in August of 2013.
