Two Iowa companies are penalized after failing to submit manure management plans to Iowa regulators.
General Development, based in Algona and Kollasch Land and Livestock Incorporated, based in Whittemore were ordered a total penalty of 40,000 dollars which resolved a lawsuit filed by the state.
Manure management plans are required of all animal feeding operations, except very small ones.
The two companies operate hog confinement operations in Palo Alto and Kossuth counties.
