Next Monday, Sioux City leaders will study ways to reduce the cost burden of the downtown skywalk system on nearby businesses.
Right now, those buildings that are attached to the system cover 70 percent of the costs for things like cleaning, maintenance, and security. The city pays the rest.
The study session will focus on flipping the formula, putting more of the burden on the entire city, instead 20 private entities.
Two city boards, along with Downtown Partners, the organization that represents those businesses made the recommendation.
